David E. Boyd
Prior to his retirement from litigation on December 31, 2014, David Boyd's trial practice included liability defense of attorneys, and other professionals, and representation on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants including business litigation, construction disputes, and product liability actions involving aircraft, watercraft, motor vehicles and machinery. David is admitted to practice in California, and he has appeared before numerous state and federal courts in the Midwest and western United States. David is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and a diplomate with the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys (ABPLA). David is board certified as a specialist in legal malpractice law by the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization, and he is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell and a Northern California Super Lawyer.
David frequently serves as an arbitrator and mediator in civil cases, and he has served as a mediator and settlement conference attorney for the California Superior Court for Sacramento, Placer, and El Dorado Counties and approved mediator for the Third District Court of Appeal. He has taught Advanced Torts at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, and has authored numerous articles for legal journals, particularly in the areas of trial practice and ethics. He has been active in state and local bar activities, including the Sacramento Bar Council, the Professional Responsibility Committee of the Sacramento County Bar Association, the Committee on Professional Responsibility and Conduct of the State Bar of California (COPRAC), Sacramento County Liaison to the State Bar Commission for the Revision of the Rules of Professional Conduct, the Conference of Delegates of California Bar Associations, the American Bar Association, and numerous trial lawyer organizations.

MILITARY SERVICE
- United States Navy Active Duty (Naval Aviator), 1968–1973:
- During the Vietnam War, Mr. Boyd flew electronic warfare missions with VAQ135 from the USS Kitty Hawk (CV63), and also served and as the squadron's landing signal officer for CVW11. Mr. Boyd attended Safety Officer's School at the Navy's Postgraduate School in Monterey.
- United States Naval Reserve, 1973–1992:
- Mr. Boyd continued to fly carrier-based aircraft in the Naval Reserve with VAQ208/VAK208, attached to CVWR20, during which time he served as squadron LSO, safety officer, maintenance officer, operations officer, administrative officer, executive officer, and eventually commanding officer of the squadron. Thereafter, Mr. Boyd assumed command of Naval Reserve, USS Ranger (CV61), before his retirement in 1992.
